12 Must-Try Hobbies for Women in 2025: Creative and Fun

“Women don’t have hobbies”. This is a statement I have unfortunately heard before. Between work, school, and family, life can often feel like a whirlwind of responsibilities, deadlines, and obligations, leaving little time to pursue our passions or explore new interests.

I believe that women do have hobbies. I just think sometimes we either lack the extra time to fully engage with our interests and we put them off when we do. Nonetheless, it’s important to prioritize our hobbies.

Committing to a hobby is not just an enjoyable escape from the routine but also an incredible way to nurture creativity, reduce stress, and connect with like-minded individuals.

Hobbies can provide a space for self-expression, personal growth, and much-needed “me time.” Here’s a look at must-try hobbies for women to explore in 2025!

Creative Arts

Painting and Drawing

Dive into the wonderful world of art and creativity this year! Art is one of the best hobbies for women. Whether it’s watercolors, acrylics, sketching, or any other medium, art can be a therapeutic outlet for emotions and ideas.

Remember the art classes we loved in school? Why did we ever stop taking them? Perhaps it was the feeling of not being talented enough compared to others. At least in my case. No need to compare yourself to others anymore. Art is a form of expression and should be fun, not perfection!

Hand Lettering and Calligraphy

Most people say writing in cursive is a dying art. But for those who appreciate the beauty of words and design, calligraphy is the perfect hobby to try this year. This art form lets you transform simple text into beautiful compositions.

With practice, calligraphy will allow you to create beautiful cards, journals, wall art, personalized gifts, and much more! Calligraphy kits can be found on Amazon or Hobby Lobby from $20-$30 making it relatively inexpensive to get started.

Photography

Capture the beauty around you through a camera lens! It’s more than just pointing and shooting; photography involves understanding composition, lighting, and storytelling.

By learning the art of photography as well as editing techniques, you can document your unique perspective of the world. Perhaps it’s not the cheapest hobby to try on this list, but if you’ve always had a passion for photos and film, I encourage you to start! It’s a useful skill to have in my opinion even if it’s just for fun!

Intellectual and Skill-Building

Reading and Book Clubs

Explore new worlds, gain insights, and connect with fellow book lovers! If you enjoy being social, joining a book club can be a fantastic way to combine your love for reading with meeting new friends.

If you are more introverted perhaps start with Booktok or youtube readers. Following fellow book lovers who can recommend different options and discuss topics can be just the ticket. You could even start your own reading group or book discussion. It’s all about finding the right fit for you!
